Harris Supply's History....

   Harris Supply Company is a third generation family owned and operated wholesale distributor of fine plumbing, heating, cooling, and electrical products.   Headquartered in Wellsville, NY in Allegany County, branch operations in Olean, Dansville, and Batavia have extended Harris Supply's service area. 

      In 1923 George B Harris opened the doors of a oil field supply house in Allentown, NY.  This business soon operated in several locations surrounding Wellsville, then a thriving oil town.  With World War II raging the demand for oil was very strong and George B soon commanded a thriving oil field supply house.  As normal change was on the horizon and the end of the "Great War" would be the beginning of a new era for Harris Supply.  The post war economy created a large oil surplus and with that oil exploration in Western New York was ended along with Harris Supply Company's business.   George B. looked to plumbing and heating supply as the new business focus and still stands as the core of Harris Supply's operations.  

         After World War II George's son Daniel returned with medals from Europe to Wellsville and began taking an active part in Harris Supply's operations.  His noted charisma and good reputation gradually developed Harris Supply into a regional supplier servicing Allegany, Steuben, Cattaragaus, Chemung, Tioga, Potter, and Mckean counties in both New York and Pennsylvania.  "Dan Sr." established a highly regarded wholesale operation on more than good prices and service.  He created strong relationships with what are today old fashioned business values: Honesty, Integrity, and Loyalty.

        While Daniel Harris Sr. continued to expand Harris Supply's product and service offerings the next generation of the Harris Family began becoming familiar with the business.  Kevin and Dan Jr., both Dan Sr.'s children were "learning the ropes" of the business working as salesmen, truck drivers, truck loaders, warehouse managers, whatever Dan Sr. asked according to them.   In 1975 three generations of Harris' were contributing to there family business and there community.  Unfortunately the family bliss was short lived when George B. Harris passed away in 1977 and then Dan Sr. in 1980. 

        Kevin and Dan Jr. took hold of the reins and a third generation took charge.  The eighties were kind to Harris Supply Company and the new management used it's youthful energy too grow the company to new heights.   Kevin and Dan Jr. pursued the previous generations goals with the same dedication to service and ideals.   As the nineties began another landmark was reached when Harris Supply Company was listed as one of the " Top 100 Private Companies in Western New York".  Kevin and Dan Jr. entered the new decade with a widely expanded service area facilitated by branch offices throughout Western New York.

        The nineties have proven Harris Supply as a fixture in the plumbing, heating, cooling, and electrical supply industry.  While economic and market conditions have tested the company, quality products and dependable service have maintained  Harris Supply's place in the industry as the new millennium nears.  Please watch our progress as the technology of the Internet and computers changes our business.
